I’m a true library lady in a curious library time. Libraries are still learning to embrace their traditional roles with new exciting, electronic resources. On top of that, for school librarians, it is a challenge getting young students connected to a school curriculum. The challenges may at times seem greater for African American students. My small school district is largely comprised of African American and Latino students. So I have to “bring it” daily. Not interested in excuses for performance gaps on state assessment tools. Very interested in a dialogue of not giving up or in. Keenly interested in using Library and Web 2.0 tools to make a greater impact. It’s a lifting-as-we-climb thing. Willing to dialogue with people with great, constructive ideas.
